This was a fun project I created and produced for PointRoll right before I left the company in 2014. Often than not, ad agencies are forced to obey client demands and produce creatively stale campaigns. The challenge for this project was to create a custom event installation that channels spontaneous creativity with award winning marketers to reinvigorate their creative passion for digital advertising.
Inpsired by Willy Wonka's "Wonka-Vision", where Willy and the Oompa Loompas created a technology to transport a candy bar through a camera and into a television screen, we setup a live recording booth during The ADC Awards ceremony during their annual festival in Miami Beach. Through advertising, design, photography, illustration, interactive and motion graphics, the The Art Directors Club inspires international creative masterminds to reconnect with their inner artist and hosts North America's only beach-side festival for the commercial creative industry. Here we decided to flex some serious creative-tech muscle and place the ADC award ceremony nominees inside a LIVE digital video ad through an activation we called "Create-A-Vision".
It was awesome seeing some of the biggest names in advertising and design explore their inner improvisational acting skills, which in minutes populated into a LIVE video ad!
The installation was an immediate success. PointRoll's Vice President of Creative Services, Rob Avery, and I built over 20 live ads in 45 minutes while wearing Oompa Loompa costumes!
